(Last time I published when I didn't mean to. This time I thought I published when I didn't. This one was supposed to go up on Friday, then I forgot all about it! I hope this isn't the beginning of a trend.)
Once again the stove top is covered with pots simmering away. Actually, they're boiling away. I wish I could say I'm cooking something good, but unfortunately it's only water. Our district is under a boil water advisory after e-coli was found in our water supply. YUCK!
The notice to boil water was issued yesterday, but I didn't hear about it until this morning when Hubby called from work to let me know. Ewww! Ewww! Ewww! Now I'm regretting that huge green smoothie I made, and the 2 litres of water I drank, and the beautiful cup of green/goji tea I had, and brushing my teeth, and so on, and so on, and so on. I'm imagining imminent tummy rumblies and a weekend strapped to the toilet. I'm hoping the good things I ate yesterday will counteract the any nasties I may have consumed in the my water.
(It's Monday morning now. So far good health reigns. We should know by noon whether the water is once again potable. I hope so. I don't really mind having to boil our water; it's the space the containers of boiled water consume that's beginning to wear thin. My cluttered kitchen feels wildly crowded with these additions. I'm looking forward to returning to a customary level of chaos soon.)

Oh god, I hate boil water advisories. It makes me a bit sad for the state of our watershed. It's our life blood, really, so why don't we treat it with more respect?
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be more regulation on industry to ensure the sustainability of our potable water. Just because we have the most fresh water in the world doesn't give us a right to take it for granted.
I completely agree. I'm so glad you commented Samantha. I was having trouble articulating my feelings. You've really summed it up for me! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBTW, the professor in this article

had some extremely good points too. Hope someone with more authority than I have listens.
